SUMMER STUDY IN PARIS


FACULTY
Dr. Tom Blair has been  Director of ESA since 1977 and is currently a French faculty member at City College of San Francisco.  The French government recently recognized Dr. Blair’s contributions to French education by awarding him the prestigious Palmes Académiques.

Dr. Michael Vincent, former professor of comparative literature and vice president and dean at the American University of Paris, directs the civilization program.  His teaching and research interests focus on the French 17th Century.

Mrs. Shelley Witman Vincent has led student groups in Paris since 1978.  She has taught in Paris as a Fulbright Exchange Teacher and is now living in Paris where she has founded 
Personally Paris, which organizes custom-tailored visits to her favorite city.

Dr. Yolanda Patterson, professor of French at California State University-Hayward,  teaches a multimedia approach to French civilization for the ESA summer program.  Much of her scholarship has been devoted to Simone de Beauvoir. 

Dr. Dominique Van Hooff, Chair of Foreign Languages Department  at San Jose State University,  joined the ESA staff for the first time in the summer of 2004. 

Language instruction is provided by the faculty of the Institut Catholique.
